“A Live-in & Learn Gardening & Farming Experience” at Earth Harmony Homestead, KDC
A “Live-in and Learn Gardening and Farming Experience” for individuals wishing to learn more about organics and Permaculture and how to reconnect with nature and share the land in a co-creative way.
Tim Wigley and Anne Keating Wigley joined the Khula Dhamma Eco Community in January 2010. In 2009 they mapped out a 2 hectare area for themselves on the Khula Dhamma farm, and started building a barn which they are presently living in. They have called their home Earth Harmony Homestead. It is a “homestead” in the true sense of the term – a home tightly surrounded by their food garden and, what in a few years time will be a productive food-forest.
TIM ……
Things are slowly, slowly starting to take shape on Earth Harmony Homestead. We’re in the process of developing an intensive Permaculture food forest and vegetable garden here at Khula Dhamma. Being a natural/organic farmer for half my life, even before the name became fashionable, I'm keen to know how my food was grown and where it comes from, hence the move to an eco community whose members also appreciate these things and with whom I can share my abundance.
I’ve been teaching what I’ve called Natural Farming in the Transkei for the last 15 years. I’ve amassed a good deal of experience through working with some remarkable people, not only here but in a variety of different circumstances and countries. I’d really like to share my knowledge and experience with whoever’s out there and interested!
ABOUT THE COURSE
I am offering a “Live-in and Learn Gardening and Farming Experience” for individuals wishing to learn more about organics and Permaculture and how we can reconnect with nature and share the land in a co-creative way. It is a one-on-one course or a very small group.
The programme is flexible; taking into consideration the time of the year, present weather conditions, what needs planting, what needs harvesting and so forth, we adapt the programme to suit your needs and level of skill. We may be harvesting honey while you are here, which will give you the opportunity to learn more about bees.
You will learn as we work together with what needs doing on the farm that day. There will be some physical work, lots of talking in-between, cups of tea, and if we’re lucky, Anne will have baked some chocolate brownies!
The course is fully hands-on, interspersed with theoretical information. You may also hear something about “Interbeing” and deep green ecology. Anne has an interest in eco psychology and we could all share some insights during our tea or coffee breaks.
In the evenings or on a rainy afternoon, we can sit back with a movie that will expand on what you’ve learnt first-hand in the field, or the film could open up discussion on a wide variety of contemporary topics.
I hope to stretch your thinking, shift paradigms and open you to another way of being.
